Summary of the meeting held on 18.10.2007
Thank you to all members who attended the PROP meeting on the 18th of October. PROP would like to welcome the following members:

A decision was made on PROP's next research project which will focus on the effect of audio cueing on gait and freezing patterns in individuals with Parkinson's Disease. A protocol is currently being put in place and will be discussed at PROP's next meeting on the 23rd of November.
PhD student Joanna (Asia) Muras from Trinity College Dublin's Physiotherapy and Computer Science departments presented her research project to PROP. The research focuses on the design and development of assistive technologies to aid people with Parkinson's Disease carry out home exercise programmes. Joanna aims to build an exercise system that would use force sensors placed on a chair or bed to monitor performance of exercises to strengthen core muscles. PROP discussed existing rehabilitation strategies and systems using force sensors to monitor posture and body movement and discussed the clinical views on the design of such equipment. Progress reported on data collection of current research projects: Minimal Detectable Change of the Berg Balance Scale. Data collection has now ceased and the results and paper will be written up. Any members who would like to present the data at upcoming conferences can email prop@tcd.ie.
All PROP members received a copy of The Trinity Test of Mobility and Balance outcome measure and PROP mugs with web and email address.
