Practice Education Team Roles and Responsibilities:
- To ensure a rigorous and evidence based process in the assessment of competency in all students during placements at all levels.
- To ensure adequate capacity for practice education placements.
- To ensure adequate standards in learning outcomes for practice education students.
- To interview all students at each stage of the practice education experience to ensure that an adequate standard of competency is being achieved.
- To develop and promote a collaborative model for practice education between the Discipline and practice education placement sites.
- To support the role of the practice educator in practice education.
- To promote and develop quality assurance initiatives in practice education.
- To keep abreast of developments both nationally and internationally in relation to practice education.
The Practice Education Team works in a dual capacity to support both the student and the practice educator throughout the practice education process.

Practice Education Coordinator (PEC) Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure a rigorous and evidence based process in the assessment of competency in all students during placements at all levels.
- Co-ordinate, strategically manage and develop the quality and capacity of practice education.
- Have overall responsibility for the allocation of student practice education placements.
- Work closely with the Discipline of Occupational Therapy’s staff, occupational therapy managers and practitioners, professional bodies, the Therapy Project Office, the local and national implementation groups, and the Health Service Executive in matters related to practice education and competency at graduate level.
- Support Regional Placement Facilitators, Practice Tutors and Practice Educators.
- Be responsible for the teaching of specific practice education modules as part of the university programme.
- Keep abreast of national and international developments.
- To investigate and research models on practice education and carry out research where appropriate.
Regional Placement Facilitator (RPF) Roles and Responsibilities:
- Deliver adequate capacity and a defined standard of quality of the practice education placements in a defined geographical area/practice area.
- Be involved in the teaching of specific practice education modules as part of the university programme.
Practice Tutors (PT) Roles and Responsibilities:
- Deliver adequate capacity and a defined standard of quality of the practice education placements in defined site(s).
- To set clear pathways for student learning which is specific to their own contexts.
- Support the role of the practice educator at their particular placement site(s).
- Be involved in the teaching of specific practice education modules as part of the university programme.
