Undergraduate Teaching

Third and fourth year medical students are 'attached' to the Department in St. James's Hospital (Dublin) and at the Adelaide and Meath Hospitals incorporating the National Children's Hospital at Tallaght, Dublin.

In third year, students have to present an "evidence based" project which includes an IVIMEDS module. A comprehensive course of lectures, tutorials and seminars is also given to third year medical students as part of the Pathology Course. Bi-weekly tutorials in Haematology are held in the Final Medical year. An e-module in Blood Transfusion will be manidatory prior to graduation.

Lectures are also given to Nurses, Pharmacists, and MSc students in Molecular Medicine and Molecular Pathology. The department delivers and examines the MSc in Molecular Pathology in DIT in Kevin Street.
