Trinity Psychiatrists

“Trinity Psychiatrists”, a book by Fellow Emeritus, Professor Marcus Webb, was launched on 18 October http://www.medicine.tcd.ie/tercentenary/gallery/trinity-psychiatrists.php
In celebration of the Tercentenary of the TCD Medical School, the book Trinity Psychiatrists, explores the work of psychiatrists among graduates and staff, from the era of John Stearne in the 17th century.  Their story is set in the context of the broad social conditions, and of psychological and educational concepts of their times.  It moves from concerns for the serenity of the soul to the philanthropy of Jonathan Swift, and on through the mind-body controversies of the 19th and 20th centuries to touch on the recent astounding growth of the neurosciences.
